Emma
Adapted from the classic novel by Jane Austen, Emma left all its viewers speechless, with its unique cinematography, colorful style, and historical costume designs. The movie follows a witty and naturally charming 20-year-old who believes that she will never marry. However, the twist in the story is that Emma actually delights in pairing up her friends and relatives together, some of whom do get married.Â
Emma sees that as her talent – bringing couples together.Â
Her old friend, Mr. Knightley, watches her match-making activities with a critical eye and because Emma is so fixated on pairing other people together, she misses the one person who’s been taking an interest in her the whole time.
Emma is a compelling story, filled with whimsical characters and beautiful shots that’ll make you go back for a re-watch!
Top Gun Maverick
If classic movies aren’t really your style, this movie is one we’re sure you’ll enjoy!Â
Action-packed with nuanced characters, Top Gun Maverick follows the story of a Navy Captain by the name of Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell who is tasked with training young fighter pilots to enter into enemy territory, to destroy an unsanctioned uranium plant. However, this is where things get tricky because the whole uranium plant is protected by Surface-to-Air missiles!
As Maverick tries to train his young and enthusiastic crew, it slowly dawns on him that this is nothing less than a suicide mission. He starts to devise a plan to save his crew, to somehow ensure their safety while also completing the mission. Everyone around him tells him that it’s impossible, but Captain Maverick has never been scared of the impossible before.Â
As one of the highest-grossing films of 2022, Top Gun Maverick is a phenomenon – one that you must absolutely experience with Xfinity TV.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is a PG-13 film that the whole family can enjoy together. With stars like Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, the movie is hilarious and the chemistry between the characters is so fun to watch!Â
The movie starts with 4 teenagers coming across an abandoned game who decide to play it – and then, instantly get whizzed into the game! They are transported to a jungle and appear as their selected, adult avatars. They are thrust almost immediately into a quest to save their lives but they soon realize that someone is after them.
And that lights out for them in real life, once they lose their 3 lives in the game. The stakes just got real!
Pretty Woman
Since there have been two back-to-back action movie recommendations, let’s take it back to a classic! Pretty Woman is now available on Xfinity TV and if you still haven’t seen this famous film, take this as a sign to watch it! Otherwise, re-watching a love story is always a good idea.Â
Pretty Woman follows the story of a millionaire who stumbles across a call girl, and they eventually fall in love. Edward, the busy millionaire, is a workaholic, and coming across a girl like Vivian wasn’t what he expected. She surprises him and her ways make him laugh and Vivian starts to grow fond of him too.Â
But the two of them do understand that they’re from different worlds. Even if they were falling for the other person, was a life together really possible?Â
Aquaman
Last but not least, we had to include a good ‘ol superhero film! Aquaman is the story of Arthur who could communicate and understand marine lifeforms, ever since he was a child. He is the son of Atlanta, who is originally from Atlantis, which is why he has such powers.Â
As Arthur grows up, he trains every day to become a fighter and hone his powers but when he discovers that his own mother was executed, for having a child with a human, he rejects his origins.Â
Many years later, in a twist of fate, Arthur becomes involved in a conflict going on between the land and sea. Orm, the King of Atlantis, wants to wage war against humans for his selfish reasons, discarding the enormous loss of life that would occur as a result. Arthur is forced to step in and take his rightful place as the King of Atlantis – the very same place, he had rejected. With some cool CGI shots, this movie is one we’re sure you’ll enjoy!Â
