There are many reasons for this since such a natural material as wood is highly valued. Another main advantage of wooden windows is the ability to repair them. Of course, the repair or restoration of wooden windows is not an easy task. However, if you apply a few modern materials, patience, and a little effort to them, you will get a completely new window.
When do you need a repair?
Repair and restoration of windows are similar to each other: you will have to clean, paint, seal and insulate them. The selected approach largely depends on the degree of deterioration of frames, fittings, and glass. Most often, repairs are needed due to worn-out fittings. However, such repairs are quite easy to make. It is only necessary to replace the worn-out parts with new ones.

Most often, repairs are required due to the sloppy look of wooden windows. It often happens as a result of applying many layers of paint. Renovations are also needed if the thermal insulation qualities of the window are violated. If rotten areas are found on the window frame, then such a window needs repair.
Key Steps of the Repair Work
In any case, wooden frames must be painted, insulated, and periodically repaired. If the frames have not rotted or cracked from time to time, then such frames can possibly be repaired to a new state. For the window frame to look new, the old paint must be removed from it first. It is better to do it in several ways:
- treat the old paint with special removals;
- scrape off the old cover from the frame;
- dry the paint with construction tools and remove the excess paint.
So after removing the paint, the wooden frame needs to be perfectly sanded and inspected for cracks. If there are any, they must be sealed with putty. After the putty has completely solidified, it must be cleaned with fine sandpaper to a smooth state. After this, glass is inserted into the frame. They are fixed with glazing beads.
