With Nuno Espirito Santo being sacked after just 10 games of this current Premier League season, it was clear that Tottenham made a huge mistake in terms of their hunt for a new manager in the summer.
While although a huge mistake was made, they then made huge steps to rectify such an issue and not only did Daniel Levy see the error of his ways, but he also moved in double quick time to fix the problem.
A problem that saw Antonio Conte finally answer the call and with the Italian reportedly turning down Tottenham first time around, chairman Levy finally got his man four months later than first hoped.
A man who arrives in North London with title winning pedigree in both England and Italy and with success being captured within the confines of the Premier League and Serie A, the ultimate aim will be to deliver silverware to his new employers.
While although silverware is certainly an achievable prospect at the end of this season and especially as Tottenham find themselves within three cup competitions at present, it is the biggest prize of all that will interest Conte the most.
A prize that the former Chelsea boss won back in 2017 and by following up his league success with the F.A. Cup a year later, it is fair to say that the Italian’s time at Stamford Bridge was a short but rather happy one.
That stint in West London was only two seasons long and with Conte’s latest contract initially being just 18-months in length, he certainly will not want to waste the first six of those in the middle of the Premier League table.
Because that is where Tottenham find themselves at the time of writing and for those who believe that the ex-Juventus midfielder and manager can launch his new charges up the league, that may be wishful thinking in the short-term at least.

Something that perhaps speaks volumes as to the overall quality of those who are currently wearing Tottenham colours and if more and more are not getting international call ups, then they are not at the standard that is truly required for the club.
Which also means, the latest Tottenham managerial incumbent may finally be the man to oversee the painful transition that has been mentioned for a number of years and if the deadwood can be cleared in the New Year, it may help matters in the second half of the season.
A half of the season where all the prizes are handed out and if an agonising trophy drought of nearly 14 years can be ended in either February or May, it will undoubtedly give this a whole club a boost for the 2022/23 campaign.
A campaign that according to the terms of the contract, would be Conte’s last season in charge and what better way to go out than by finally helping the bridesmaid of English football finally become the bride.
