FAITH OF THE HEART / FAITH v2 / BROKEN BOW CREDITS / STANDARD CREDITS / MIDI THEMEIt’s been a long road, getting from there to here,
It’s been a long time, but my time is finally near,
And I will see my dream come alive at last, I will touch the sky,
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more, no they’re not gonna change my mind,
Cause I’ve got faith, of the heart, I’m going where my heart will take me,
I’ve got faith, to believe, I can do, anything,
I’ve got strength, of the soul, but no one’s gonna bend or break me,
I can reach, any star, I’ve got faith, I’ve got faith, faith of the heart
In the beginning, we all heard “Space, the final frontier…” spoken by James T. Kirk and 21 years later Jean-Luc Picard during the opening credits of Star Trek and The Next Generation, respectively. What they said spoke of their current mission and missions to come: the exploration of space.
In ENTERPRISE, we hear not of what’s to come but rather what got us where we are now. The words speak of a realized triumph and the overcoming of the difficulties of the past, which is especially fitting in today’s times.
Many are clamoring for the theme to be changed to an instrumental version, as in Treks past, but an instrumental version could not even come close to setting the tone needed for ENTERPRISE. And just for the record, I like the opening theme, and have, since I first heard it.
People are quick, quick, quick to judge negatively. It’s easier than seeing the good and it gives many a feeling of power to dice something or someone up.
I’m sorry for the gang that can’t see beyond their own narrow view of what is hip. The words and images say something that is pure Roddenberry and they don’t even see it! ~ Doug Drexler, Enterprise Illustrator
