Royal Ascot is another event set to proceed in 2021 but it will be different to last season, with some spectators returning to this incredible event. The Royal Ascot offers are also now hitting the market, with fans looking to get involved in the run up to the event. Royal Ascot will be taking place between Tuesday 15th June and Saturday 19th June, with many of the leading horses from around the world travelling over to contest the races. This will include a strong challenge from the US, with Wesley Ward the key driver behind this and he also brings over a strong side and will very much likely leave having entered the winner’s enclosure.
Early indications are that the daily capacity at the track is likely to be between 4,000 and 10,000 across the week but this could increase, as we see improvements continue to be made and fans returning to sporting events. This would be fantastic news, with the event having taken place last season without spectators, with owners also unable to attend.
Looking ahead to the racing itself and much of the week is going to be about the Ascot Gold Cup, which is always the marquee event across the five days. This year is also going to be all the more special as the John Gosden trained Stradivarius goes in search of a fourth victory in succession in the race. This would be a remarkable achievement and he is again going to take all the beating, as he has already returned this season with an eye-catching performance at the track.
Stradivarius first won the race back in 2018, when he produced a battling performance to hold off a strong challenge and win the race from just under a length from the French trained, Vazirabad. Then the following season and it was a similar story, with the horse being well supported in the run-up to the race. He again battled well in the race and stayed on powerfully to win by a length from Dee Ex Bee. Then last season many believed the winning run could come to an end in the race and the ground also went against the horse on the day, with him drifting in the betting. However, he went onto produce is best performance to date with an incredible 10 length success. This was a performance that will live long in the memory and if he can produce something similar, then he will win the race for the fourth year and join the all-time greats.
